A total of 22 abandoned pets were rescued from the illegal Lucky South 99 POGO hub and resort in Porac, Pampanga.

The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) said eight pets were recently added to the count from the raid on a resort allegedly used by the bosses of Lucky South 99.

"Less than a month after our last emergency rescue mission at the illegal Lucky South 99 POGO Hub, police raided a connected exclusive leisure resort nearby and tragically found more abandoned pets," Paws said in a social media post.

"This resort, allegedly the lavish residence of the Lucky South 99 'big bosses,' became a scene of suffering as the residents fled and once again just heartlessly abandoned their pets," the group said.

"These animals, far from living in the luxury of their owners, were found caged, without sufficient means to survive."

PAWS said pet abandonment is a crime.

The group vowed to work closely with the government to pursue charges against the pet owners.

The group also appealed for support for the rescued pets.

"We urgently need your support to care for the now total of 22 rescued POGO animals. The estimated monthly expense of just feeding the 22 POGO rescues alone stands at ~P230k. They will need to undergo their medical tests and evaluations ASAP as well so we can get an estimate of their medical expenses from our vet," said PAWS.
