MANILA -- The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday conducted clearing operations along major roads in Paranaque and Pasay City.Gabriel Go, MMDA Operations Head, reported that a total of five to six illegally parked vehicles were towed this morning, with additional motorcycles being removed from restricted areas.&quot;Ang dala po nating tow truck nasa 14,&quot; Go stated. &quot;More or less, we have towed about five to six vehicles, even more kasi meron tayong mga motor na hinatak and as regard to the apprehension, marami po tayong mga hinuli, meron pong mga drivers. Go emphasized that using sidewalks for personal activities is inappropriate as it impedes pedestrian movement. Cardino eventually acknowledged his violation and voluntarily agreed to relocate his stall to a proper location.With the number of vehicles they have towed and violators apprehended, Go explained that he has always reminded drivers to rest if they are tired, giving them suggestions to stop at a gas station or designated emergency lay-by areas. &quot;Pinapaliwanag ko nga sa mga drivers -- kung kayo po ay pagod o gusto magpahinga, pwede po tayo tumigil sa mga gas stations. Meron po tayo mga tinatawag na emergency lay-by areas na kung saan pwede po tayong magpahinga ng saglit, but it doesn&#x27;t mean na &#x27;yung emergency lay-by areas pwede na din po paradahan. We are on the side of the government, we have to set a good example,&quot; said Go.&quot;Umiikot tayo araw araw sa buong kalakhang maynila just to ensure that the traffic problem, traffic congestion ay mabigyan natin ng agarang solusyon but then at the end of the day we can&#x27;t do this alone. We have to do the whole government approach,&quot; he added.
