<p>Demolition job.</p><p>This was how Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo’s counsel described the allegation that she is behind the threats on Senators Sherwin Gatchalian and Risa Hontiveros who are investigating Guo and illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).</p><p>Gatchalian has reached out to the Philippine National Police to report an online video saying Guo has ordered her men to silence them in exchange for P5 million each.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/7/16/senate-readies-detention-area-for-alice-guo-et-al-1028" id="isPasted">Senate readies detention area for Alice Guo, et al</a></div><p>“Noong nakausap ko naman si mayor about that, ang sabi niya, ‘Ano ba ‘yan Diyos ko, lahat na lang binibintang sa akin.’ So in other words, wala siyang alam doon. Alam mo, maganda diyan kay Senator Sherwin, ipatawag ‘yung vlogger na ‘yun,” David told ABS-CBN News on Thursday. “Negosyante si mayor pero hindi siya kriminal.”</p><p>(When I talked to mayor about it, she said, ‘My goodness, I have been accused of everything.’ So in other words, she doesn’t know anything about that. It would be good if Senator Sherwin Gatchalian invites that vlogger to the hearing. Mayor Guo is a businesswoman, not a criminal.)</p><p>David also urged the alleged classmates of Guo in Grace Christian High School, which is now Grace Christian College, to surface and say what they know about Guo being the same person as Chinese Guo Hua Ping.</p><p>“Kung totoo ‘yung sinasabi nila, lumabas sila doon sa DOJ, sabihin nila mag-testify sila ‘dun. Tsismis kasi ‘yan eh,” David said.</p><p>(If what they say is true, then they should testify in the Department of Justice. Until now, she has not yet decided if she will surrender to the Senate or show up in the next hearing on July 29.</p><p>“Wala pa siyang ganoong commitment sa atin,” David said. “Siyempre ayaw namang maging fugitive for life, di ba?”</p><p>(She has not yet given that commitment. Mawawala lahat ‘yan pagka naglabas ng final assessment ang BIR. Kasi makikita nila ano pala ‘yung takbo ng operasyon ng mga companies nila. So, legit,” David claimed.</p><p>(The black propaganda that she has billions in her accounts, 36 accounts, will stop. Those will go away when the BIR gives its final assessment. They will see how those companies run. So, legitimate.)</p><p>In a separate <a href="https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=502611082131100&amp;id=100071466368586&amp;mibextid=WC7FNe&amp;rdid=0Z2Yvy7ZELMlaUta" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">statement</a> posted Thursday night, Guo said she was not able to attend the Senate hearings due to “severe exhaustion and trauma” she experienced after the earlier hearings.</p><div><span dir="ltr" id="isPasted"></span></div><p>“My primary priority now is my health and peace of mind, so that I can properly address all the legal issues directed at me,” she wrote.</p><p>She also expressed concern that the Senate and the other offices seem to be focused on her, instead of the other issues the country is facing.</p><p>“Respectfully, I do not wish to be used by anyone to boost their political ambitions. Our country faces many critical issues such as national security, poverty, unemployment, food shortage, healthcare delivery, environmental degradation, and human rights violations. I appeal to them. to focus on their attention on these problems instead of continuously threatening me with arrest and accusing me of being complicit in various Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO)-related crimes, which are untrue and unfounded. Am I really the country&#x27;s biggest problem that they need to focus on? Or they just want to project me as the antagonist/villain?” Guo said.</p><p>Guo likewise reiterated she does not pose any threat to anyone.</p><p>“Specifically, I categorically deny any involvement in the death threats received by Sen. Win Gatchalian. I have no capacity, much less intent, to cause any harm against anyone. In fact, I myself have been receiving actual and online threats since the start of this issue. I am well- aware of the feeling of receiving threats against my person, safety, and security. Thus, I strongly condemn such inhumane or callous acts,” she added.</p><p>“I, therefore, join the call for the authorities to investigate on the matter so the innocent ones will not be dragged into this. Lastly, I appeal to everyone to focus on facts, not on mere opinions and character assasination,” Guo said.</p>
