MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is done drafting his third State of the Nation Address (SONA), but is still revising and polishing some parts, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said on Saturday, two days before the Chief Executive’s annual report to Congress.

“Alam ko tapos na yung speech niya pero perfectionist siya kaya nire-revise niya,” Romualdez told reporters.

“Sigurado inaanalyze niya yung mga data atsaka may mga input pa sigurong pumapasok pero alam ko in principle tapos na pero nirerevise niya at pina-polish niya na lang yun,” he said.

Romualdez did not give details as to which topics would take centerstage in his cousin’s third SONA.

“Wala akong details diyan but I’m sure it will be an excellent one,” the Speaker said. “I’m very very excited to listen to the SONA.”

Under the law, the President is required to deliver an annual report to Congress every 4th Monday of July.

Several analysts earlier said that they expect Marcos Jr. to highlight the Philippines’ “bright” economic standing in the region, and underscore the country’s right to its exclusive economic zone amid China’s continued incursions in the West Philippine Sea.

Some sectors are also expecting the President to address the issues of inflation and offshore gaming operations in his speech on July 22.
