Tumana were busy cleaning their houses and business establishments Thursday morning in the wake of floods triggered by Carina. </p><p>Julan Canendo, one of the evacuees at H. Bautista Elementary school, was saddened upon knowing that his store with stocks of fruits and vegetables was ruined by the flooding.</p><p>“Ganyan talaga siguro kapag may negosyo ka,” he said. </p><p>(Maybe that&#x27;s just how it is when you have a business.)</p><p>Meanwhile, some residents of Bgy. Tumana like Olivia Bajas became emotional after seeing the aftermath of the flooding. Hanggang dito po sa taas namin (ang baha) sa may bubong ang tubig. Hindi kami nakalabas. Walang pagkain. Wala lahat. Ubos,” Bajas added.</p><p>(It was frightening. The flood reached up to our roofs. We couldn&#x27;t leave. There was no food. Everything was lost.)</p><p>She appealed to authorities for help, saying she didn&#x27;t know how they could recover from the ordeal. </p><p>Marikina River&#x27;s alert level has been lowered to first alarm, Marikina City DRRMO confirmed early Thursday morning.</p><p>As of 4 a.m., the water level has dropped to 15.9 meters prompting the office to downgrade the alarm level.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/7/24/marikina-river-lowered-to-1st-alarm-as-water-level-drops-441">• Marikina River lowered to 1st alarm as water level drops</a></div><p>River dredging and widening under the disaster mitigation project of the city which started in 2021 contributed to the rapid drop of the river water level, the MCDRRMO added. </p><p>As the water level dropped, some flooded areas in Marikina City are now clear and passable. </p><p>As of this posting, the Marikina City LGU registered more than 30,000 evacuees from more than 35 evacuation camps in the city.</p><div> </div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fT9r2xeN-ZM?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><div><br/></div>
