Sonny Angara has been chosen to replace Vice President Sara Duterte as Education Secretary when the latter&#x27;s resignation becomes effective on July 19.</p><div><a class="fr-strong fr-green" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/7/2/sonny-angara-is-new-deped-chief-1148">READ: Sonny Angara is new DepEd chief</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/6/19/sara-duterte-resigns-from-marcos-cabinet-palace-1450">READ: Sara Duterte resigns from Marcos Cabinet</a></div><p>Department of Education  (DepEd) Undersecretary Michael Poa said enrollment activities have started, as well as other preparations for the opening of the school year.</p><p>&quot;Ang mangyayari is basically, we are preparing everything para pag-upo po ng incoming secretary ay hindi na siya mahihirapan, na smooth na. Of course, without prejudice doon sa direction na ise-set niya, but at least pagdating sa school opening, pine-prepare na po natin lahat para maging seamless po ang transition,&quot; Poa told ABS-CBN News.</p><p>Poa said an inter-agency meeting was conducted on Wednesday to plan for the &quot;Brigada Eskwela,&quot; or the annual nationwide schools maintenance program that engages all education stakeholders.</p><p>The event is tentatively scheduled on July 17.</p><p>&quot;Kasama natin doon ang ating partner agencies of course, the DPWH, DTI, DILG, of course and others pa. Marami po iyan, it is the whole of government approach pagdating sa opening of classes every year, so isinagawa na po natin iyan,&quot; he said.</p><p>For smooth transition of leadership, DepEd is also finalizing some reports to be submitted to the Office of Sen.
