(She might not be able to attend.)</p><p>David earlier said that it will be up to senators if they will make Guo attend the hearing through online means.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/6/7/a-closer-look-at-mayor-alice-guo-s-salns-2015">• A closer look at Mayor Alice Guo’s SALNs</a></div><p>Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality Chair Senator Risa Hontiveros, however, said Guo has no other option.</p><p>“If she doesn’t honor the subpoena, the Senate is well within its rights to issue an arrest order. She dug her own grave. We merely asked basic questions that any upright human being  could answer. Ngayong na wala na siyang lusot, nagpapa-victim siya (Now that she has been cornered, she is pretending to be the victim).”</p><div><strong>SUBPOENAS</strong></div><p>Guo’s counsel, the David and Jamilla Law Offices, received the subpoena for her on July 5, but refused to receive the subpoenas for her father, siblings and supposed mother Wen Yi Lin as they are not their clients.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/6/3/ombudsman-suspends-bamban-mayor-guo-2-others-over-raps-filed-by-dilg-1531">• Ombudsman suspends Bamban Mayor Guo, 2 others over raps filed by DILG</a></div><p>Subpoenas were also delivered to Guo’s farm in Bamban, Tarlac despite a helper saying that Guo “has not gone to the farm for several weeks now and he has no idea of her whereabouts,” according to the Senate Sargeant-At-Arms.</p><p>The helper also said he does not know the relatives of Guo.</p><p>Copies of the subpoenas were also given to the Office of the Mayor in the Bamban town hall.</p><div><strong>OSG, COMELEC</strong></div><p>On Sunday, David criticized the plans of the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to file a quo warranto against Guo, and the Commission on Elections for its plan to file an election offense.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/7/8/comelec-forms-panel-to-investigate-alice-guo-s-2022-candidacy-1509">• Comelec forms panel to investigate Alice Guo&#x27;s 2022 candidacy</a></div><p>“Sa akin, premature ‘yan,” David said on Teleradyo Serbisyo. (That is premature for me.)</p><p>“Finile-an ka ng cancellation ng birth certificate sa Tarlac di ba dapat tapusin mo muna ‘yun para malaman mo nga kung nanalo ka dun, napatunayan mong hindi siya Pilipino saka ka pa lang mag-institute ng quo warranto. Sa ngayon, ano ang magiging basis nila doon sa quo warranto o sa COMELEC case na violation daw?” David asked. </p><p>(Shouldn’t the case on the cancellation of birth certificate in Tarlac be finished first in order for you to know that if you win, you were able to prove that she is not a Filipino? That is when you institute a quo warranto. So what will be the basis now of the quo warranto or the COMELEC case?)</p><p> According Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra, however, their quo warranto will not be based on the birth certificate case. </p><p>“The quo warranto petition is founded on independently available evidence. it is not dependent on the outcome of the petition for cancellation of the mayor’s birth certificate,” Guevarra said. </p><p>Comelec chairman George Garcia echoed Guevarra. </p><p>“Our exercise of jurisdiction is not dependent on the others&#x27; jurisdiction.
