They shared their appreciation for the program&#x27;s value in enhancing their children’s skills and confidence.A former student turned teacher, meanwhile, fondly recalled her excitement and challenges from when she used to compete in similar competitions.&quot;It was intense and nerve-wracking just watching my students in the competition,&quot; said Lianna Calderon, a teacher at UCMAS Pickering. &quot;I can see the kids’ faces, and I know that sense of relief in them.&quot;This year marked the 20th anniversary of the Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System program in Canada.The head of the company in North America emphasized how the program contributes to children&#x27;s academic success.&quot;Our children can apply their transferable skills in other language programs, social sciences, and even the science and technology programs,&quot; said Megha Karia. &quot;Parents feel that it has helped them not only in math [but also] in the overall academic success in school.&quot;One of the UCMAS center&#x27;s owner, Florence Jovellanos, believes that Filipinos can excel in this field.She expressed hope that more Filipino children will join future math competitions.&quot;There’s a stigma that when you hear math, it’s so scary and difficult,&quot; said Jovellanos. &quot;But with this program, we can see that they are learning and enjoying math.&quot;
