Valeriano Del Rosario said that is the maximum insurance amount. </p><p>At present, there are already 42,000 affected fishermen in Cavite and Bulacan, according to Senate Majority Floor Leader Francis Tolentino. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/regions/2024/8/14/philippines-begins-transfer-of-oil-cargo-from-sunken-tanker-1343">Philippines begins transfer of oil cargo from sunken tanker</a></div><p>“Once the numbers have been noted, there will be claim centers created for them,” Del Rosario said. “Kapag may class suit po hindi po kami makaka-setup ng claims center (If there is a class suit we won’t be able to setup a claims center).” </p><p>The province of Cavite is considering a class suit. </p><p>The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), meanwhile, said it has given P44.8 million in humanitarian assistance which includes family food packs and financial help, while the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released P45 million in initial funds for the livelihood of 1,300 fishermen. </p><p>Many have also been employed under DOLE’s Tulong Pang-hanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/regions/2024/8/14/doj-probes-batangas-based-group-allegedly-involved-in-oil-smuggling-1514">DOJ probes Batangas-based group allegedly involved in oil smuggling</a></div><div><strong>EXCEEDANCE </strong></div><p>The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) reported 17 stations with exceedance of oil and grease content as of August 13, 2024, all of these in the National Capital Region. </p><p>As to whether fish in Bataan can be eaten, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said according to its sensory inspection, these are “generally safe for human consumption.”</p><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/MM6hhOjX6_w?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span> <span style="white-space:pre-wrap"></span></div><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><div><br/></div>
