<div><span dir="ltr" id="isPasted"></span></div><p>MANILA — Motor Vessel Mirola-1 that ran aground off the coast of Mariveles, Bataan last July 23 did not get permission to go to sea, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Friday. </p><p>In a virtual press conference, Bataan Oil Spill Incident Commander Lieutenant Commander Michael John Encina said this was based on initial findings.</p><p>“According sa ating Coast Guard Station sa Manila, ito po ay tumakas. It left without warning.)</p><p>Encina added that the vessel was not self-propelled, which means it did not navigate Manila Bay alone and was, based on initial findings, was pulled a motor tug named War Prince. </p><p>He earlier identified the vessel’s owner as a certain Mary Jane Ubaldo.</p><p>The official also clarified earlier released information that the vessel was carrying heavy oil. </p><p>Following a manual scooping of oil done by PCG on Thursday, he said they identified its content as a mix of light oil and diesel oil.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/regions/2024/7/31/vessel-runs-aground-off-the-coast-of-bataan-causing-another-oil-spill-1942" id="isPasted">Vessel runs aground off the coast of Bataan, causing another oil spill</a> </div><p>Manual scooping was temporarily suspended on Thursday due to bad weather, but the PCG assured that it will continue as long as there remains oil in vessel and the water surrounding it. </p><p>The PCG has deployed a Marine Casualty Investigation and Law Enforcement Team on top of responders to look not into just the circumstances surrounding MV Mirola 1 but the other incidents of oil spill in the province.</p><div><br/></div><div><br/></div>
