MANILA -- Authorities in different Southeast Asian countries have been "alerted" to be on the lookout for former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, who fled the Philippines amid an investigation into her ties to illegal gambling syndicates in the country, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian said on Monday.

Guo was last seen in the Philippines in mid-July, allegedly leaving a resort through a speedboat. Earlier this month, authorities confirmed that she was seen in at least three Southeast Asian countries, the last one being Indonesia.

"Kanina yung mga ASEAN ambassadors nakausap ko at sabi nila nakaalerto na din ang kanilang mga otoridad so mahihirapan siya makagalaw sa ASEAN," Gatchalian said, referring to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

"Tingin ko mahuhuli siya sa Indonesia," he told reporters in a chance interview.

Last week, Guo's sister Shiela, and their associate Cassandra Li-Ong — who represents the raided Lucky South 99 gambling hub in Pampanga — were nabbed in Batam, Indonesia.

They were flown back to the Philippines and are expected to appear before congressional hearings this week.

"Wala na silang pupuntahan so mas maganda pang sabihin nila paano nabuo itong POGO hub sa Porac, paano nabuo itong POGO hub sa Bamban, paano nakapasok dito si Alice Guo at ang kaniyang pamilya," Gatchalian said.

"Paano nila nakilala itong mga sindikato? Kasi obviously mga sindikato din ang nag puslit sa kanila palabas ng Pilipinas," he said.

"Maraming mga connections na dapat nila sabihin para maka-file ng magandang kaso ang gobyerno," he added.

The Senate will have to see if Shiela Guo will cooperate and divulge the modus and extent of illegal gambling operators in the Philippines before the chamber decides if she could be admitted to the Witness Protection Program.
