<p>MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday explained why they blurred the mugshots and videos of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and four of those who were apprehended in Davao last Sunday, saying this was not the first time they did this.</p><p>“This is not the first time na ang PNP ay naglabas officially ng mga mugshot na tinatakpan natin ang mga mukha,” Police Spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo said.</p><p>“Kung mapapansin niyo, even &#x27;yung previous cases natin na mga arrested, kapag nilalabas yan ng mga operating unit ay nakatakip ang kanilang mga mukha. Even ‘yung mga names ay inaalis natin bilang pagtugon sa utos na rin ng Commission on Human Rights – na hangga’t maaari ay takpan naman,” added Fajardo.</p><div><ivs-player data-ivs-key="e8c22c015ca9eafa76f1e3edfa03c603" data-ivs-spid="3001339" data-ivs-vid="3068228"></ivs-player> <script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/loader.js"></script></div><p>The police spokesperson said blurring the photos and videos is PNP policy to &quot;protect [the] dignity [of the accused].&quot;</p><p>“Remember, they are also presumed innocent hanggang mapatunayan natin na sila ay guilty,” she said.</p><p>Asked if the public would be able to see Quiboloy without any mask or covering, she said this could be possible. “Tingnan natin,” PCol. Definitely ang arraignment niyan ay dapat physical although ang RTC Quezon City ang sabi ay videoconferencing lamang,” she said.</p><p>“With regards doon sa RTC Pasig, I understand na nire-require nila na physically present si pastor but as of now wala pang final ‘yan kasi mag-uusap pa ang DOJ at PNP kung ano ang motion na ifa-file nila, kung puwedeng gawin ang arraignment via videoconferencing,” she said.  </p><p>Quiboloy was arrested on September 8, 2024 after the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines gave him an ultimatum to surrender within 24 hours, following a raid by the PNP on the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao over the past two weeks in an attempt to locate the religious leader.</p><p>He and his co-accused were presented to the media on Monday, but their faces were covered and the pastor was wearing shades.</p><p>PNP also shared footage and photos that had blurry or pixelated face of Quiboloy, drawing criticism from the public. </p><div><ivs-player data-ivs-key="e8c22c015ca9eafa76f1e3edfa03c603" data-ivs-spid="3001339" data-ivs-vid="3068187"></ivs-player> <script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/loader.js"></script></div>
