MANILA — Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros on Wednesday said lawmakers were preparing their request to courts to compel Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy to attend their probe following his arrest last week.

"Itatakda po namin hangga't maaga ang susunod na pagdinig... Once matakda namin yung petsa, susulat na ako sa nauukol na korte para masigurong andito rin siya bilang pagsunod din sa standing warrant ng Senado para sa kaniya," said Hontiveros, chairperson of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality.

Quiboloy surrendered and was arrested on Sunday over two weeks after around 2,000 personnel of the PNP went to the KOJC compound to serve an arrest warrant against him.

"Marami kaming itatanong kay Apollo Quiboloy, kung bakit talaga niya ginawa ang lahat ng ito at paano sinet up na yung mga taong nirecruit niya bilang nananampalataya sa kaniya, at sa kaniyang kingdom ay sa halip inabuso niya sa iba't ibang paraan," Hontiveros said.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said it was documenting additional complaints of alleged abuses involving Quiboloy.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said some parents of allegedly abused children approached the police during the 16-day operation at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City to arrest Quiboloy.

Quiboloy, a self-proclaimed "Son of God", was charged by the US Justice Department in 2021 with sex-trafficking of girls and women aged 12 to 25 to work as personal assistants, or "pastorals", who were allegedly required to have sex with him.
