MANILA -- The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday cautioned the public against availing of so-called mpox vaccines that are "imported".

In a public health advisory, the Health department said that these supposed vaccines "have been brought into the country without the careful attention of regulatory agencies like the DOH and its Food and Drug Administration (FDA)".

"Mpox vaccines require certain storage and handling conditions (i.e. ld chain). Without DOH FDA safeguards, there is no way to assure safety and efficacy," the agency said.

Earlier, the DOH said it will avail of 2,000 Jynneos vaccine doses to help prevent the spread of mpox in the country.
