MANILA — Six people were reported dead from the combined effects of the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat, and tropical cyclones Ferdie and Gener, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its situation report released Monday.The casualties--which the NDRRMC said are still for validation--were listed in Mindanao.Four died in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), while two died in the Zamboanga Peninsula.Eleven people were also injured and two missing amid the effects of the storms.From its monitoring which began last Wednesday, the NDRRMC listed multiple flooding incidents--mostly in the MIMAROPA, Central Visayas, as well as Zamboanga and BARMM.Over 86,000 families or 337,506 people were affected, with more than 9,600 families seeking shelter in evacuation centers.MIMAROPA also had the most reported cases of damage to infrastructure at 14, with the total cost of damage across the rest of the country amounting to P200,000.Meanwhile, over 200 damaged houses were reported, with more than 120 in Western Visayas. Ferdie exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Saturday, while Gener developed from a low pressure area into a tropical depression early Monday.<div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/9/16/habagat-gener-bring-heavy-rains-more-flooding-warned-1241">• Habagat, storm Gener bring heavy rains; flooding, landslides warnings up</a></div>The habagat and Gener are forecast to continue to bring moderate to heavy rains over parts of Luzon and Visayas, including areas already affected by flooding, this week, state weather bureau PAGASA said Monday.Another tropical storm with the international name Pulasan is also forecast to enter the PAR on Tuesday evening.
