MANILA — The Department of Justice is ready to accept fresh complaints arising from the alleged abuses committed by Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy as well as his two-week hiding from the Philippine National Police implementing a warrant for his arrest.

DOJ Undersecretary Nicholas Felix Ty said government prosecutors have a nationwide scope when it comes to preliminary investigations as the PNP readies complaints against the supposed coddlers of Pastor Quiboloy.

Ty said alleged trafficking victims who came forward following the service of the arrest warrant against Pastor Quiboloy inside their church in Davao are also welcome to file their complaints.

Ty however said the DOJ will be meticulous in assessing the possible complaints from at least eight complainants.

Quiboloy was arrested last week — his lawyers insists he surrendered — on Sept.8, weeks since at least 2,000 police personnel began searching the KOJC compound in Davao City in search of bunkers and tunnels that the fugitive preacher might be hiding in.

The police operation, where one KOJC member died of a heart attack in the first day of the search, has fissured the already shaky alliance of the Marcos and Duterte factions of the ruling coalition.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte, named administrator of KOJC properties earlier this year, raised concerns of rights violations in the government's "demonization" of Quiboloy, which he said was meant to distract from social problems like corruption and poverty.
