MANILA — Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada wants the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to investigate the issuance of a birth certificate to Katherine Cassandra Ong.

Ong is the authorized representative of Lucky South 99, the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Porac, Pampanga.

During the hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality joint with Migrant Workers; and Public Order and Dangerous Drugs on Tuesday, Estrada said details regarding Ong’s birth are dubious.

For one, he said no one knows the midwife named Rosario Mendez who helped Ong’s mother, Li Ying Xia, give birth.

He also said the registered address of Ong when she lived in San Juan City was 345 P. Mendoza Street, a non-existent address.

“It seems entries sa birth certificate ni Ong ay questionable,” Estrada pointed out. “Ito late registration. Pinanganak May 23, 2000, ni-register May 16, 2001.”

He also said PSA did not have a record of Li’s birth, and her marriage to a certain Richard Ong Chao Hong.

The PSA, through Director III Atty. Eliezer Ambatali said, “We have already launched a fact finding investigation.”

Meanwhile, Ong said she did not know that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, her brother Wesley, and Shiela Guo, the Chinese national previously believed to be the sister of Guo, would escape.
