MANILA — After a series of hearings that spanned nearly 4 months, the Senate Committee on Women is set to end its probe into illegal POGOs that saw the capture of an alleged "Chinese mayor" and possibly prompted President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to ban the crime-infested industry.

According to the office of Sen. Risa Hontiveros, the panel is scheduled to hold its next, and possibly last hearing into the issue on Tuesday, Sep. 24.

"Tuesday next week is the continuation of POGO hearing in Committee on Women. Inaasahang ito na ang last sa POGO hearing. (We expect it to be the last)," the office told reporters on Viber.
The senator's office said the panel would now focus on the issues surrounding Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) and its founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who was arrested early September.

The final straw that sparked the investigation, however, was the raid of the POGO hub in Bamban, Tarlac in March, where nearly 300 foreigners were rescued for the alleged scam farm.

The first hearing was instrumental in exposing the dubious background of Guo, who was later found out to have the same fingerprint of Chinese national Guo Hua Ping.
