MANILA — Around 300 families of Barangay 105, Zone 8 in Tondo, Manila are now sheltering in the barangay covered court after they evacuated from their homes Monday morning.

Barangay 105 chairwoman Elenita Reyes said the barangay undertook preemptive evacuation this morning to prevent any casualties due to the heavy rains.

The evacuated families have been provided hot meals with the help of the Manila City's social welfare department.

“Ayaw kasi namin magkaroon ng sakuna na magbuwis ng buhay kaya ang ginawa ng buong council, sabi namin lumikas na, huwag na maghintay na may mangyari,” Reyes said.

Resident Mary Del Pio said she decided to bring her family to the evacuation center as waves started to slam their homes at around 7 in the morning along the Manila bay harbor.
