Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/File"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo testifies at the Senate hearing in Pasay City on May 22, 2024 as she faces questions on her identity and alleged ties to a raided POGO hub in her town. <em>Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta has already requested Indonesian authorities to let them visit ex-Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. </p><p>Guo is currently in the custody of the State Police of the Republic of Indonesia or Polri in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. According to Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Gina Jamoralin, they will continue to extend the Embassy’s consular services to Guo even if her nationality is being questioned. </p><p>“We are requesting access preferably within the day, but of course it has to be with the approval of the Indonesian authorities. We just want to see how she is you know, that is part of our consular duties at the Embassy.… at saka kailangan siya sa Philippines and so we have to make sure that we verify also,” Jamoralin said. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/9/4/nbi-pnp-confirm-arrest-of-dismissed-mayor-alice-guo-1129" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">PHOTO: NBI, PNP confirm arrest of dismissed Mayor Alice Guo</a></div><p>The Embassy was informed that Guo is doing “okay” and that Indonesian authorities are aware that the Philippine government wants her deported immediately. </p><p>“She is okay and she’s being taken care of naman. The Indonesian police knows naman that we are awaiting for her return to the Philippines. Like what they did previously kay Shiela (Guo) and Cassandra (Li Ong), mabilis din eh, they were deported,” Jamoralin added. </p><p>Guo, who left the Philippines in July 18 and reportedly went from Malaysia to Singapore before finally entering Indonesia, was arrested by the Indonesian police in Tangerang City, in the province of Banten. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/9/3/alice-guo-arrested-in-indonesia-740">READ: Alice Guo arrested in Indonesia</a></div><p>Although very near the Jakarta city center, the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is located in Tangerang City, which means there is easy entry and exit to the area. Jamoralin also said that it is very easy to move around from Jakarta. </p><p>“One hour by land. Actually it is near the airport 45 mins parang ano s&#x27;ya ito yung Jakarta, it’s the next province, Banten. Parang kumbaga sa Philippines parang Cavite… Jakarta is in the middle of the Java province, there is central Java, may East Java, may West Java. It’s very, it’s very long and wide, and you can travel by land, by boat, public transport, so it’s very, you can go to each points to all the points freely. You can also travel to another province the nearest is Sumatra, you can travel by boat,” the Philippine Ambassador said. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/9/4/alice-guo-expected-to-return-to-ph-on-thursday-or-friday-nbi-1301">Alice Guo expected to return to PH on Thursday or Friday: NBI</a></div><p>The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta helped in tracking down Guo by providing her travel details to Indonesian immigration authorities. According to Jamoralin, Guo entered Indonesia on August 18 but has no other record.</p><p>“She landed in Batam then travelled to Jakarta… Pumasok siya sa Indonesia kasama nga yung dalawa, but then nga yung dalawa naunang na-apprehend and also after the apprehension of the two, there were no records naman that Alice Guo exited Indonesia so that’s the basis,” Jamoralin explained. </p><p>Prior to her arrest, Malacañang has ordered the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Justice to revoke Guo’s passport. </p><p>“It has to be upon the request of the Philippine government, specifically the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. But so far we haven’t received any instruction yet so I presume that she has still Philippine passport,” Jamoralin said. </p><p>The Philippine Embassy expects the Indonesian government to expedite Guo’s deportation, in the same way it efficiently handled the deportation of both Li Ong and Shiela Guo.
