MANILA – Aboitiz Power Corp said its subsidiary Aboitiz Renewables Inc. (ARI), has energized its 45-megawatt peak (MWp) Armenia Solar Project in Tarlac, marking the company’s first solar facility in Central Luzon.

“The Armenia Solar Project is a testament to our commitment to diversifying the Philippine power mix,” said ARI President Jimmy Villaroman.

The solar plant is connected to the grid via an 11.58-kilometer transmission line spanning five barangays, facilitated by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

This project is AboitizPower’s fourth operational solar facility, joining its 59-MWp San Carlos Sun Power plant in Negros Occidental, 94-MWp Cayanga-Bugallon Solar facility in Pangasinan, and 159-MWp Laoag Solar plant, also in Pangasinan.

With over 1,000 MW in disclosed renewable energy projects, AboitizPower said it is accelerating its plans to expand its portfolio, targeting 3,600 MW of new renewable capacity by 2030.

The company is also pursuing hybrid systems, including a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Laguna in partnership with Shandong Electric Power Engineering.
