Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News </span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA — <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/8/8/manila-water-net-income-up-15-pct-in-first-half-of-2025-1628">Manila Water </a>customers will soon see a change in their monthly billing, as the company shifts from the thermal paper form to a bond paper form similar to Meralco&#x27;s.</p><p>A thermal paper form is printed immediately after reading, while a bond paper form will be sent 2 to 3 days after the meter is read.</p><p>The new bill format is more reader-friendly, unlike the current one which is delicate and not easy to read.</p><p>Manila Water said some areas had received the new billing form, but majority of their customers would get this by late October.</p><p>The new form highlights important entries like the contract account number, as well as the amount due and due date.</p><p>But unlike Meralco&#x27;s, Manila Water&#x27;s new bill has no print on the back side.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/9/24/maynilad-manila-water-urge-poor-consumers-to-join-discount-program-1841">Maynilad, Manila Water urge poor consumers to join discount program</a></div><div><strong></strong><strong>MAYNILAD WON&#x27;T FOLLOW</strong></div><p>Maynilad, for its part, said it would stick with the current format of an instant printout of the bill using thermal paper after the reading.</p><p>The company said it would rather go digital and encourage more consumers to enroll online to access their monthly bill.</p><p>So far, 10 percent of Maynilad&#x27;s more than 1.5 million customers already access their bills online, while 67 percent have both paper and online billing access. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/6/19/maynilad-manila-water-contracts-extended-until-2047-palace-0925">Maynilad, Manila Water contracts extended until 2047</a></div><div><strong>MWSS SAYS IT WON&#x27;T STOP BILL ENHANCEMENTS</strong></div><p>Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Chief Regulator Patrick Ty said there was no directive from his office regarding the shift in the billing form.</p><p>But Ty said the MWSS Regulatory Office would not stop either Maynilad or Manila Water from doing enhancements in the billing, as long as these are for the convenience of consumers.</p><p>He said Manila Water&#x27;s change in billing form was in compliance to a Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) order to do away with the thermal paper receipt or billing, as the entries fade over time. </p><p>Ty said this would prevent bill shock as Manila Water could sift through sudden spikes in bills before these are sent to customers. </p><p>Manila Water assured consumers that although the October billing would be a bit late due to the adjustment period for the new billing, the due date would also be adjusted. </p><p>Normal bill delivery and due dates will resume in November 2025.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/10/14/what-are-power-water-bill-deposits-1340">What are power, water &#x27;bill deposits&#x27;?</a></div>
