Damage assessments for Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City seen to be completed Friday

CEBU — Structural integrity assessments for the entire Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City are expected to be completed this Friday, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).Secretary Vince Dizon said two buildings of the hospital were already cleared while repair work is also underway.“We already started the repairs para yung mga kababayan nating tini-treat ngayon sa labas ng ospital ay makapasok na. The DPWH as well as private contractors there started working as early as Wednesday,” he said.(We already started the repairs so those being treated outside the hospital can go inside)Dizon is set to return to Cebu on Saturday, together with the Philippine Red Cross Chairman Richard Gordon, to supervise the installation of tents for evacuees.He said the Red Cross will provide 1,000 tents that can fit one family each for areas affected across Northern Cebu.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/10/3/cebu-shifts-focus-on-quake-aid-distribution-as-search-and-rescue-ops-end-1410">Cebu shifts focus on quake aid distribution as search and rescue ops end </a></div>“I think they will start building the tent city already today. They found a site, a big soccer field very near the Bogo Provincial Hospital at pupuntahan namin yan bukas kasama ni Chairman Gordon (we will go there tomorrow with Chairman Gordon),” said Dizon.“Kasama rin ang pagtatayo ng medical tents, food and water tents at kasama din ang pagprovide ng temporary na kuryente at tubig sa mga tent city na ito,” he added.According to Dizon, the tents are important because many residents are still afraid to return to their homes or stay in any building with a roof because of the aftershocks.He added that the main highway going from Cebu City to Northern Cebu has been declared safe to use for motorists.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/10/3/quake-typhoon-victims-get-reprieve-from-public-housing-loan-payments-1520">Quake, typhoon victims get reprieve from public housing loan payments </a></div>But further damage assessments continue but damage to roads and bridges has already reached P2 billion.
