Jekki Pascual, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA — A so-called ‘ultimate foodie card’ has been jointly launched by EastWest Bank, foodpanda, and VISA to encourage more Filipinos to go cashless.The cobranded credit card was launched in Makati, Tuesday. It features several benefits that are expected to entice consumers to shift from paying in cash to using a credit card.Among the perks are 10 percent cashback on foodpanda orders worth up to P4,000. Cashbacks will be given on a weekly basis and annual fee is waived for the first year, plus a pandapro membership for 6 months for the initial batch of applicants.Foodpanda Philippines said this is its first cobranded card in the country where majority of its millions of users still use cash. They hope there would be a shift to digital payments similar to the goals of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.“We also want to allow more customers to stop using cash and using digital options which is easier, simple, and flawless,” said Daniel Jaramllo, foodpanda Philippines Managing Director.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/11/15/visa-gotyme-ink-deal-to-speed-up-digital-payments-in-ph-1602">Visa, GoTyme ink deal to speed up digital payments in PH</a></div>“Bring the cash or the COD [cash on delivery] users into online basically through the credit card partnership with EastWest Bank,” added Lex De Castro, Finance Director of foodpanda Philippines.Jerry Ngo, Chief Executive Officer of EastWest, said they aim to add more credit customers after launching several cobranded cards this year. He said foodpanda has over 4 million customers and it could potentially add more credit card customers which would be good for both companies and the public as well who will be getting the rewards.This also as the country also heads to a tap to pay society where more cards are NFC enabled or allows short-range wireless data transfer between devices. EastWest is also a partner bank for Google Pay.“An NFC card as well so that’s really exciting for us because that should also revolutionize the way we do things. Things should move into contactless payments and so on and so forth,” Ngo said.The officials are also optimistic of growth as they launched the card  just before December when Filipinos like to buy food for parties or events. Jaramillo said, “We see how Filipinos consumer spends so much of their extra cash that they get at the end of the year actually on food.”
