MANILA --  Megaworld’s real estate investment trust MREIT is infusing malls by the second half of 2026, adding about 250,000 square meters to its portfolio.Kevin Tan, President &amp; CEO of parent firm Alliance Global Group, Inc, said that they will inject offices and retail in MREIT. He added that the both sectors have been performing well this year.“Next year we’re trying to bring in about two batches yan, siguro we’ll add another 250,000 sqm. Malls and offices,” said Tan.Megaworld Head for Investor Relations Andy Dela Cruz added that the first batch would be about 10 office properties valued at P15 billion. These include nine in McKinley Hill and one in Eastwood City. The ten properties have a total 198,000 sqm gross leasable area.In the second half of the year, it will be the malls’ turn. Dela Cruz said they are still reviewing which malls to infuse via property share swap. But the estimate size would be a total of 70,000 sqm.“We are currently reviewing all the malls under Megaworld. Because the goal is really to infuse everything under Megaworld step by step, of course,” Dela Cruz said.He added that the plan is to increase the MREIT’s portfolio from the nearly 500,000 sqm this year to one million square meters by 2027.In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, MREIT said the inclusion of select retail assets will support portfolio diversification, allowing investors to benefit from Megaworld’s strong mall business. Tan added that overall business this year has been good from malls to offices. Though there was a slowdown in liquor, but he hopes the holiday season will bring sales up again.“This year is still gonna be growth because we had a very good start of the year. And I think the demand continues to be strong. But of course, there’s a lot of wait and see among our clients,” Tan said.
