MANILA — The country&#x27;s biggest business group is urging President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to certify as urgent four priority governance reform bills that the group says could help curb corruption, strengthen institutions, and boost investor confidence.In a statement, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) said the President’s newly announced priorities — the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill, the Partylist System Reform Act, the Citizens Access and Disclosure of Expenditures for National Accountability (CADENA) Act, and the Independent People’s Commission Act (IPCA) — align with long-standing private-sector calls for transparency and a more predictable regulatory environment.PCCI threw its strongest support behind the proposed CADENA Act, which seeks full public disclosure of government spending.&quot;Enhanced visibility on how public funds are allocated and spent, particularly for infrastructure and procurement, reduces corruption risks, ensures fair competition, and promotes efficient use of taxpayer resources,” PCCI President Consul Enunina Mangio said. He added that once this is enacted into law and implemented robustly, the CADENA Act may become one of the most impactful anti-corruption and pro-investment measures in recent years.The group likewise endorsed the IPCA, saying independent oversight and citizen participation are essential to a stable business climate. Greater predictability and accountability, it added, would support long-term economic planning.“These bills are more than governance reforms—they are confidence-building measures that signal our country’s commitment to integrity and accountability. Certifying them as urgent will help accelerate their passage and send a strong message to investors that the Philippines is serious about creating a clean, fair, and competitive business environment,” Mangio said.PCCI said the four bills, taken together, form a crucial reform package that could strengthen public institutions and improve the country’s investment climate. The group said it is ready to work with the government to advance the measures.
