House OKs bill extending the estate tax amnesty period to December 31, 2028

<p>MANILA — A bill seeking to extend the estate tax amnesty period to December 31, 2028, has hurdled the House of Representatives.</p><p>During the plenary session on Tuesday, the lower chamber unanimously voted to approve House Bill 6614 on third and final reading.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/business/08/08/23/estate-tax-amnesty-bill-lapses-into-law">Estate tax amnesty bill lapses into law</a></div><p>The measure also extends the coverage of the estate tax amnesty to the estates of persons who died on or before December 31, 2024. </p><p>It allows payment by installment within 2 years from the statutory date for its payment without civil penalty and interest, provided that the minimum initial payment shall be at least 25% of the total amount due.</p><p>The bill seeks to provide taxpayers with an equitable opportunity to settle longstanding tax obligations, help unlock properties, and expand the tax base.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/05/31/23/congress-oks-bill-extending-amnesty-for-estate-taxes">Congress OKs bill extending amnesty for estate taxes</a></div>
