MANILA -- SM Supermalls said its saw record foot traffic from customers in 2024. 

In a statement, SM Prime Holdings said average daily foot traffic in their malls in 2024 reached 5.2 million, from the 4.9 million it saw in 2023.

SM Supermalls president Steven Tan said this reflects the trust and loyalty of shoppers and the strength of the company's tenant partnerships. The mall operator said it now has 22,579 tenant stores, nearly 70 percent of which are micro, small and medium enterprises. 

SM said it will attract more clients this year by hosting large-scale events like job fairs and fan meets and opening new attractions like its dog park Sky Bark. 

Parent firm SM Prime said is alloting some P21 billion to expand SM Supermalls' gross floor area in 2025. New developments will add 205,400 square meters of floor area, the company said.

Tan said SM will focus on strengthening its presence in key areas and partnering with more tenants to meet their customers' needs and wants.
