MANILA -- EY Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines Jacinto Ng, Jr. will represent the country in the World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Monaco next month.SGV Foundation recently held a send-off ceremony for Ng who won the award for the Philippines late last year. Recent past winner Dennis Anthony Uy of Converge also joined the event.Ng, who heads Raemulan Lands. Inc, said he is excited to represent the Philippines and he also hopes to learn from the dozens of global entrepreneurs who will also join the gathering in Monte Carlo.“I feel a little bit nervous to be able to represent our country. But overall, I feel very much excited to go to this new place and to meet fellow entrepreneurs all over the world,” he said.At the send-off ceremony, SGV Chairman and Managing Partner Wilson Tan praised Ng for his work in helping poor Filipinos get decent houses.Tan said, “Under Ng’s leadership, Raemulan Lands group experienced tremendous growth even during the global pandemic, building more than 30,000 homes for those in need and fostering a sense of community resilience among residents.”Ng said he can share his business practices to other entrepreneurs who might be interested in running a socialized housing company. Ng’s Raemula Lands Inc has so far developed a total of 50,000 units for social housing and he is proud to say that they have developed a strategy to build affordable homes without sacrificing quality.“Our mission statement is really to home the homeless, and. It&#x27;s really focusing on being able to provide affordable housing to the low income market, especially to the the large and growing homeless families,” he said.Ng added, “We just have to find efficiencies within the whole business operations to lower the cost to provide for our profit. So we looked at how to lower the cost in terms of our construction methodology, not just the quality of the house.”The current price ceiling for socialized housing set by Pag-IBIG is P850,000, but Ng said they made houses worth more than the price ceiling, but selling it at less than the ceiling price. He said this is their contribution to help solve the housing backlog problem in the country. He envisions to build thousands of homes per year to address the millions of housing backlog.Ng, who also heads Joy-Nostalg, was accompanied by his family including his father Rebisco founder Jacinto Ng Sr, at the send off ceremony. Converge founder Dennis Anthony Uy, the previous EY Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines, also joined the send-off event.
