MANILA – Grab’s motorcycle taxi arm Move It has called on the Motorcycle Taxi Technical Working Group to resolve its appeal on fleet cut, saying the government’s “inaction” would threaten the livelihood of riders.Move It general manager Wayne Jacinto told ABS-CBN News they filed a supplement to its motion for reconsideration on May 22 or this Thursday.“Move It warned that continued inaction on the part of the government could result in the layoff of more than 14,000 riders and could be detrimental to thousands of commuters, particularly in the face of the scheduled rehabilitation of EDSA next month,” Move It’s statement read, referring to the motion for reconsideration.<div> <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/5/21/group-urges-motorcycle-twg-to-carefully-review-fleet-cut-vs-ride-hailing-app-0025">Group urges motorcycle TWG to carefully review fleet cut vs ride-hailing app</a></div>The ride-hailing app described LTFRB’s order as “fatally flawed for non-compliance with the constitutionally protected right to due process.”It also noted that the panel’s decision was based on a “single hearing conducted solely by the secretariat” and supposedly without the presence of its chairman, vice chairperson, and other members of the technical working group.Move It and its riders were also supposedly not present during the hearing, the statement read.“The enforcement of the Order – which was issued in flagrant violation of the right to due process – will displace almost 7,000 riders in Metro Manila, 3,000 in Cebu, and 3,000 in CDO who depend on Move It for their livelihood,” the statement read.“This also equates to more than 14,000 families which are in danger of losing a source of income and users who stand to lose another option for cost-efficient, safe and convenient transportation,” it added.Move It also said the order would not just affect the riders, but also the commuters.ABS-CBN News has reached out to Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) regarding their concern, but it has yet to respond as of this story’s posting.<div> <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/5/16/tv-patrol-libo-libong-move-it-riders-nangangambang-mawalan-ng-trabaho-2019">TV PATROL: Libo-libong &#x27;Move It&#x27; riders nangangambang mawalan ng trabaho</a></div>The LTFRB earlier ordered Grab’s motorcycle taxi arm Move It to slash its fleet by half to 7,000 — the number authorized by its franchise — from around 14,000.Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has said the LTFRB order will be shelved “pending the resolution of the firm’s appeal.”“Status quo muna, hindi muna i–implement ang desisyon ng LTFRB habang pinag-aaralan ang motion for reconsideration ng MoveIt kahapon.
