MANILA — Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon reiterated that the EDSA rebuild is not canceled when he faced the Commission on Appointments (CA) on Tuesday, June 3.

The ad interim appointment of Dizon is being considered by CA.

Dizon clarified the instruction of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is to look for a better way to implement the EDSA rebuild.

“Sabi lang po niya (President), let us find a better way. And when he said a better way, he essentially meant a way that will be faster, so para ho di masyadong mahirapan ang ating mga kababayang dumadaan sa EDSA,” Dizon said.

Ang sabi po niya one month balikan niyo ko ulit with a better way.

The original cost estimate for the EDSA rebuild until 2026 is P8.7 billion, according to Dizon.

As far as he knows, the EDSA rebuild—led by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)—is in the advanced stages of procurement.

I have to defer to the DPWH on this,” Dizon said.
