<p>MANILA, Philippines – Looking for a valid ID but cannot find the time to apply for one in-person? Look no further as through the Bureau of Internal Revenue–Online Registration and Update System, one may apply online for a Digital Taxpayer Identification Number ID. </p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mzUjIjupkOc?&amp;pp=0gcJCbIJAYcqIYzv&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><div><strong>What is a Digital TIN ID?</strong></div><p>The Digital TIN ID is the electronic version of the traditionally-printed TIN ID issued by BIR, announced available through the Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 120-2023 dated November 29, 2023.</p><p>The availability of the digital version of the ID is an additional function and feature of the website BIR-ORUS’ mandate on offering an alternative to physically queuing at BIR Revenue District Offices.</p><p>According to the memorandum, the electronic TIN ID may be a reference valid to be used for transactions in the following agencies: government agencies and institutions, local government units, employers, banks, financial institutions and other relying parties.</p><p>The features of the ID include the following.</p><ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>1 x 1 photo</li><li>Taxpayer Identification Number</li><li>Designated Revenue District Office</li><li>Full Government Name</li><li>ID Issuance Date</li><li>QR Code for Info Validation</li></ul><div><strong>How to apply for a Digital TIN ID?</strong></div><p>According to BIR, one must first create an account via the <a href="https://orus.bir.gov.ph/">BIR website</a>. The following application steps are enumerated for taxpayers’ reference:</p><ol><li>Log-in to your ORUS account</li><li>Click View your Digital TIN ID button under the Get your Digital TIN ID menu</li><li>Click the add photo button for the uploading of your picture according to the following specifications:</li><li>Size: 1 x 1 photo with white background and no borders, taken no later than six month to reflect current appearance</li><li>Appearance: Photo must be front-facing, showing both ears, with neutral expression, and no teeth showing</li><li>Check if all the information displayed is correct and updated</li><li>Last, Click Generate Digital TIN ID</li></ol><div><strong>Additional Information</strong></div><p>The Digital TIN ID is free of charge and not for sale whereas BIR warns against the availing of assistance services from online sellers which may cause receipt of invalid or fake TIN and cause impact on their future transactions with the bureau.</p><p>The BIR memorandum adds that individual taxpayers with existing TIN, with or without the physical TIN ID Card, may apply for the digital TIN ID.</p><p>Currently, the BIR website displays that their system is temporarily unavailable due to system migration activities. Applicants may routinely check the website for updates on accessibility. </p>
