Handout </div>MANILA — Vietnamese EV taxi operator GSM on Monday said it is banking on the &quot;service culture&quot; of its employee-drivers to compete in the Philippines&#x27; app-based transport industry.GSM began operations on June 2 but is set to hold a &quot;grand launch&quot; on June 10. The company uses electric vehicles from Vietnamese carmaker VinFast.Aside from having an all-EV fleet, GSM said it stands apart from other transport operators in how it has trained its drivers to be &quot;customer-focused professionals.&quot; GSM said its drivers always have neat uniforms and are polite and helpful.The company said the service culture is also rooted in how it treats its drivers, who are employees of the company itself.  &quot;Unlike other ride-hailing models that rely on independent contractors, GSM hires its drivers as official employees. They receive stable income, company benefits, and performance-based rewards, all within a culture of mutual respect,&quot; the company said in a statement.The employee-employer relationship is new to taxi operators in the Philippines, where most cab drivers work in a &quot;boundary&quot; system, which means they don&#x27;t have a regular take-home pay.&quot;Because GSM invests in its drivers, they take pride in representing the brand. With thorough training, stable benefits, and a culture of respect, they have become the human face of a modern, tech-integrated, zero-emission transport model that aligns with smart city goals,&quot; GSM added.The company also touted its AI-powered S2S (Secure to Safe) system, which includes cameras, emergency buttons, and real-time alerts, which it said is designed to protect children, women, and the elderly.&quot;All data is automatically deleted after 48 hours to ensure privacy,&quot; GSM said.The company also promised fare transparency in rides, with clear, upfront pricing.Unlike other ride-hailing services, GSM taxis can be hailed directly on the street, through a hotline, or through the Green GSM app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.Ride-hailing giant Grab also recently launched its all-EV taxi service.
