Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Regulatory Office has asked Maynilad and Manila Water to postpone its service disconnection for residents who cannot pay their water bills in habagat and storm-affected areas.</p><p>&quot;At this critical time, when access to clean, safe, and reliable water is essential to protecting public health, the MWSS-RO has likewise instructed the concessionaires to ensure water supply availability for all customers,&quot; the regulatory body said in a statement.</p><p>The water concessionaires must not cut the water supply of residents hit by Crising, Dante, Emong, and habagat from July 25 to August 8.</p><p>The MWSS noted, however, that the directive does not cover disconnection cases involving water service tampering, violations of the Water Crisis Act, or other unlawful activities.</p><p>Monsoon rains driven by a string of tropical cyclones have left at least 25 people dead since last week, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/25/25-dead-due-to-tropical-cyclones-habagat-ndrrmc-0913" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">25 dead due to tropical cyclones, habagat: NDRRMC</a></div>
