<div><br/></div><p>MANILA — The Philippine auto industry is expecting a record-breaking year in terms of car sales, targeting over half a million cars sold by the end of 2025. </p><p>At the Auto Parts &amp; Vehicles Expo in Pasay, GT Capital Auto &amp; Mobility Holdings Chairman Vince Socco said the industry can hit around 512,000 car sales this year. This will be the highest annual car sales in the country, following last year&#x27;s also record-high 475,000 units sold. </p><p>&quot;In the region, [Philippines] it&#x27;s actually the second fastest growing after Vietnam. Philippine exports to the US were slapped with a 19 percent tariff, while US cars to the Philippines were reportedly given zero tariff.</p><p>&quot;We are exporting components. Those might be affected. But as I understand it, details are still being worked out,&quot; said Socco, who added they&#x27;re waiting for the specific details of the trade negotiations. </p><p>Socco, whose parent firm owns Toyota Philippines, said there might be minimal impact on the zero tariff imposed on US vehicles in the Philippines for now. </p><p>&quot;We already have the American brands present here- Chevrolet, GM, Ford, and Jeep are already present here. For the most part, they&#x27;re sourcing their vehicles from ASEAN- Thailand, Indonesia, where it&#x27;s already zero tariff,&quot; he said. </p><p>He added that American brands have a generally different market than Toyota and that more competition is also good for consumers. </p><p>Socco said, &quot;When demand is stimulated, that means all the participants can compete for that demand.&quot; </p><p>Socco was the guest speaker at the Auto Parts and Vehicles Expo 2025 at the World Trade Center.
