MANILA — The Department of Transportation (DOTr), Pasig City LGU and other stakeholders in the the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) are hoping to finally start the construction of the Ortigas Station in Pasig in the next two weeks.Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, together with Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, inspected the site of the proposed subway station in the area where the Metrowalk commercial center is.The transportation department said it would be one of the biggest stations in the entire subway system.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/16/marcos-jr-eyes-to-complete-end-portion-of-metro-manila-subway-by-2028-1242">Marcos eyes completion of Metro Manila subway&#x27;s end portion by 2028</a></div>“Hopefully, within the next few weeks, we will start the construction finally…  three years since the groundbreaking,” said Dizon.The project was awarded to Tokyu-Tobishima-Megawide Joint Venture, which was able to break ground in 2022. Since then, construction has been delayed by right-of-way issues and other problems.He added they&#x27;re also addressing other &quot;clerical error&quot; that the Office of the Solicitor General is already correcting.Dizon explained the Ortigas Station is crucial and is one of the most important stations of the MMSP “because of its location [and] because of the volume of passengers&quot; expected to use it.Mayor Sotto said it is doing what it can to help fast-track the project. He said mass transportation is the way to go to solve the terrific problem of traffic anywhere.“[T]he fact is the only solution to traffic, the only way to have better mobility is through mass transport,&quot; he said, adding the city government is doing all it can to help with the project. <div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/4/17/dotr-secures-permit-to-build-subway-under-quezon-city-subdivision-but-right-of-way-woes-persist-0823">DOTr secures permit to build subway under Quezon City subdivision, but right-of-way woes persist</a></div>DOTr, according to Dizon, is ready to accept the President&#x27;s challenge to speed up all government construction projects.He said the Ortigas Avenue Station will not be completed in 2028 as originally planned but the DOTr is hoping the subway segment from Valenzuela City to Qurino Avenue will start operating by that year.“We will try our best up to North Avenue,” Dizon said, adding the department is trying to quickly address issues on right of way.
