MANILA -- Siquijor has been hit by brownouts again, with residents experiencing 4-hour rotating power outages. This was after 4 generators of the island&#x27;s power supplier again bogged down. While the island has one generator on loan from another cooperative, it could be used only for 8 hours per day.Residents are again complaining that the outages are affecting their businesses. Tourist accommodation owner Stewart Sanguenza said some clients had backed out after the brownout, while others had written negative reviews of his business due to the absence of hot water and light in the rooms.Energy Undersecretary Mario Marasigan acknowledged the recurring problem in Siquijor.&quot;While there are additional gensets [generator sets] on the island to increase the power supply, not all are operational,&quot; Marasigan said.He added that repairs on existing generators are taking longer than initially planned, while other generators have also broken down. Marasigan said he does not know when the power supply will go back to normal in Siquijor.President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier ordered the Villar-owned Siquijor Island Power Corp. (SIPCOR) to deliver its promises under its power supply agreement with the Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PROSIELCO), or terminate the contract.<div>NGCP EXPLAINS RATE HIKE </div>Meanwhile, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said the P28 billion underrecovery that takes effect this month is still not enough to cover what it spent for various projects.The NGCP is mulling filing a motion for reconsideration on the Energy Regulatory Commission&#x27;s decision that translates to an increase of P0.04/kWh.Electric cooperatives and power utilities like Meralco are all affected by the increase in the transmission charge. For Meralco, the hike translates to around P0.12/kWh, including the increase in transmission charge and the ERC-approved recovery.Of the more than P500 billion sought by NGCP, only around P335 billion was approved by the ERC.  According to Alabanza, there are still underrecoveries for 2022 until today, which will be tackled in the 5th regulatory period, which the ERC has yet to start.<script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAFz8gWM8iRADsJr&amp;cid=ABeacN0OAuAEqp3N"></script>
