AirAsia Philippines warned Friday against vaping inside flights, saying any smoke detected inside the plane could force pilots to reland.AirAsia Philippines head of communications and corporate affairs Steve Dailisan noted an increase in vape use inside flights from January to June this year.“Meron kaming mga nahuhuli gumagamit sa lavatory. Bawal po ‘yun. May iba nag-a-attempt na i-tamper ‘yung smoke detector duon at ipinagbabawal po ‘yun ng batas. ‘Yung iba naman pasintabi na po pero pasaway, sa mismong upuan nagve-vape. Ito po ay pinagbabawal,” he said in a DZMM interview.Dailisan said any form of smoke detected during a flight is a serious trigger that can force pilots to reland in case of fire.He said e-cigarette use is banned on flights, with signs pointing out the ban during check-in and even on overhead compartments.Violation of Republic Act No. 11900 or the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act carries a fine of P5,000. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) also warned against smoking and vaping during air travel.It reiterated that smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited onboard all aircraft in the Philippines and violators may face penalties.&quot;Any violations should be immediately reported to flight attendants or the Aviation Security Group (AVSEGroup) for prompt action,&quot; CAAP said.
