MANILA -- Ayala Land is getting a P12.87 billion loan to rebuild the Greenbelt 1 in Makati and build a new mall in Cavite.In a statement, Ayala Land said it is getting a second sustainability-linked loan of up to P12.87 billion ($225 million) from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to rebuild Greenbelt 1 and build Ayala Malls Evo City in Cavite.Designed by the late National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin, Greenbelt 1 was demolised in April to pave the way for the construction of a modern complex set to open in 2028.<div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=315&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1132114241314474%2F&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="430" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>Ayala Land said the construction of two malls alone will create 1,000 jobs. Once open, merchants in both malls can collectively employ about 3,000 workers.The company said the loan is linked to its achievement of specific sustainability performance targets, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 42 percent across its commercial leasing portfolio by 2030.Ayala Land president and chief executive officer Meean Dy said embedding sustainability into the company&#x27;s projects improves customer experience and protects long-term value for its stakeholders.“Our partnership with IFC demonstrates that sustainable financing is not only achievable, it’s scalable,&quot; she said.&quot;This is a model for how we will fund our growth in the future,&quot; she added.Ayala Land first got a sustainability-linked loan from the IFC in 2024.
