MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will meet with the Bureau of Customs to share and compare documents on all the vehicles owned by controversial contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya.LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza said all 30 cars registered to the Discaya couple and their companies have complete vehicle registration documents.These include the certificates of stock report, which prove that the vehicles are in the Philippines, sales invoices, police clearances, and the certificates of payment from the BOC that are electronically transmitted to the LTO.“Dito po sa tatlumpung sasakyan na na-monitor po natin, lahat po ‘yan kumpleto ang documentation,” he said in an interview with state-run media PTV Friday, September 12. “Kaya ang utos sa atin ng ating Secretary Lopez ng DOTr ay magpapadala po kaming ng team sa Bureau of Customs re-request po kami ng meeting para magkaroon ng comparison of documents,” he added. “Kasi sinasabi ni [BOC] commissioner may kulang na dokumento .For purposes of registration naman, kumpleto ang dokumento. So magse-sharing kami ng mga dokumento para malinawan natin ano ang kulang,” Mendoza noted.Earlier, the BOC confirmed that eight Discaya-owned luxury vehicles had no import entry records and no certificates of payment, while seven more vehicles had import entry documents but lacked certificates of payment.Mendoza said they will look into the possibility that the payment documents have been falsified.“Baka naman through time mayroong mga hackers or mga personnel ng LTO or BOC perhaps na nagpapadala ng dokumento electronically pero hindi naman authentic,” he stated. The LTO chief noted that most of the transactions occurred in the past administration.Employees who are still in service and are proven to have been involved in falsifying documents may face administrative and criminal charges.“Ang sabi nga ng Secretary Lopez sa amin eh kailangang siguraduhin namin na ang pagrerehistro ng mga sasakyan gaya nito eh kumpleto ng document,” Mendoza noted.
