Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/File</span></span></span>MANILA (UPDATE) — The House Committee on Legislative Franchises said it may begin hearings next week on the alleged violations of Solar para sa Bayan, the firm founded by Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste.</div><p>Committee chair Representative Jeffrey Ferrer said the panel is just waiting for approval from the House Committee on Rules to conduct the investigation.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/1/21/industry-group-belies-leviste-claim-doe-not-helping-renewable-energy-players-1808">Industry group belies Leviste claim DOE not helping renewable energy players</a></div><p>“By next week, hintayin lang natin i-authorize tayo ng Committee on Rules. And then most probably, okay naman ‘yun sila,” Ferrer told reporters.</p><p>Among the issues lodged against Solar Para sa Bayan is that it started operations despite not having a franchise.</p><p>Aside from Leviste, representatives from the Department of Energy and the Energy Regulatory Commission will be invited to the hearings, according to Ferrer.  </p><p> “He&#x27;s the owner of the company. Nothing personal ito– klaruhin ko. Kung adbokasiya niya corruption, sama tayo diyan,&quot; Ferrer said, dismissing allegations that the hearing was connected to the so-called Cabral files.</p><p>Ferrer also said that Leviste’s claim that the franchise was “ipso facto revoked” in 2022, woulkd be tackled as there is a need for documentation on the cancellation of a franchise.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/1/21/leviste-tells-energy-chief-garin-it-s-malicious-to-call-me-a-flipper-1258">Leviste tells Energy chief Garin: &#x27;It&#x27;s malicious to call me a flipper&#x27;</a></div><div><strong>&#x27;GOOD NEWS’ FOR LEVISTE </strong></div><p>Leviste, meanwhile, called the possibility of inquiry “good news,” saying this would give him the opportunity to correct alleged “false information” about his business. He also made a call to other lawmakers. </p><p>“I look forward to take the opportunity to: (1) Correct the false information on social media about my business, and (2) Call for all members of Congress to disclose their assets and campaign donors, declared and undeclared, so we can comprehensively dissect any of their conflicts of interest related to DPWH or beyond, including any of their links to DPWH contractors and how they may be affected by my ongoing investigations into DPWH projects,” Leviste said.</p><p>Leviste has been under fire over claims he sold a company holding a government franchise and “flipped” this without required Congressional approval.</p><p>The congressman has since said the company he sold has no franchise.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/16/leviste-files-libel-complaint-vs-palace-s-castro-1004">Leviste files libel complaint vs Palace’s Castro</a></div>
