<p>MANILA -- The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Friday said it has cleared 90 percent of the right-of-way for the Metro Manila Subway Project.</p><p>In a statement, the DOTr said it has acquired the right-of-way for some of the subway&#x27;s &quot;major bottlenecks&quot; like the Varilla Properties, and properties in White Plains, Corinthian Gardens, and Metrowalk.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/9/30/metro-manila-subway-to-finally-start-drilling-under-corinthian-gardens-in-2026-dotr-1432" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Metro Manila Subway to finally start drilling under Corinthian Gardens in 2026: DOTr</a></div><p>As of February last year, the DOTr had only acquired 51 percent of the right-of-way for the subway project.</p><p>Meanwhile, the DOTr also said it has cleared at least 56 percent of the land for a buildable right-of-way for the north segment of the North-South Commuter Railway System.</p><p>Only 2 percent of the right-of-way had been acquired as of February 2025.</p><p>&quot;The number of acquired properties under [former Secretary Vince] Dizon and Secretary [Giovanni] Lopez for the [North-South Commuter Railway]&#x27;s north segment increased substantially to 1,143 as of December 2025, from 38 parcels only in February 2025,&quot; the DOTr noted.</p><p>Lopez said that at this rate, the DOTr can now complete right-of-way acquisition for the commuter railway&#x27;s north segment by the middle of 2026.</p><p>Both the subway and the commuter railway projects have been plagued by right-of-way issues.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/9/18/north-south-commuter-railway-project-advances-despite-right-of-way-issues-1359" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">North-South Commuter Railway project advances despite right-of-way issues</a></div><p>In September, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed a law allowing the government to acquire land faster for infrastructure projects.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/9/23/marcos-signs-law-for-faster-right-of-way-acquisition-1829" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Marcos signs law for faster right-of-way acquisition</a></div>
