Presidential Communications Office</div>MANILA (2nd UPDATE) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met with Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan President and CEO Katsuya Nakanishi during a courtesy call in Malacañang Palace Monday. Also in attendance were Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Ayala Corporation Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, and Presidential Communications Secretary Dave Gomez.“I met with Mr. Katsuya Nakanishi, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Corporation, to advance investments that will create more jobs, help complete faster and more reliable subway and railway systems, and expand clean wind energy in the provinces,” Marcos Jr. said in a statement.“These efforts will also strengthen digital services that make everyday transactions easier for Filipinos as we continue building a Bagong Pilipinas,” he added.In February 2022, the Mitsubishi Corporation was awarded a contract for the integrated railway systems and trackwork for the <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/10/2/-metro-manila-subway-to-be-completed-by-2032-after-5-year-delay-1233">Metro Manila Subway</a>.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/1/9/metro-manila-subway-s-right-of-way-90-percent-cleared-dotr-1252">READ: Metro Manila Subway&#x27;s right-of-way 90 percent cleared: DOTr</a></div>In May last year, the company, together with government officials, <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/5/6/gov-t-misubishi-break-ground-for-subway-power-supply-substation-1255">broke ground for a power substation</a> that will supply electricity to the 33-kilometer subway.
