MANILA – GCash announced Tuesday it is waiving international transfer fees for money sent from the Philippines to several Middle Eastern countries.The Ayala-led fintech said the promotion, which runs from March 12 to 31, 2026, applies to money sent from the Philippines to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman. The company stated there is &quot;no minimum amount required&quot; to avail of the fee waiver during this period.&quot;Sending support to loved ones in the Middle East just got easier,&quot; the company said in an advisory, highlighting the initiative&#x27;s goal of streamlining cross-border support for the millions of overseas Filipino workers and their families.Thousands of Filipinos remain stranded in the Middle East following the outbreak of war in the region. Flights remain difficult, as the airspace in the region remains dangerous.The Middle East however, remains one of the primary sources of remittances for the Philippines, a crucial driver of the Southeast Asian nation&#x27;s economy. G-Xchange Inc. (GXI), the operator of GCash, noted that it is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), ensuring that the fee-free transfers comply with national financial security standards.The move comes as digital wallets in the Philippines continue to expand their global footprint, offering more integrated services for the country’s vast diaspora.
