MANILA – Food delivery app foodpanda Philippines announced Wednesday it will double all in-app tips for its delivery riders nationwide on May 1, to mark Labor Day.Under the initiative, part of the company’s &quot;Panda-Malasakit Project,&quot; foodpanda will match every peso tipped by customers through its digital platform. The company confirmed that 100 percent of the original tips, plus the matched amount, will be credited directly to the &quot;Ka-panda&quot; partner riders.The move comes as gig economy workers in the Philippines grapple with the rising costs of fuel and daily commodities.&quot;Our partner riders are the backbone of our business, and on Labor Day, we want their rewards to reflect their resilience,&quot; said Patricia Jacinto, growth and marketing director of foodpanda Philippines.Jacinto added that by doubling tips, the company aims to &quot;amplify&quot; customer generosity to ensure riders feel the &quot;full weight of the country’s gratitude.&quot;&quot;In the face of rising costs, we aren&#x27;t just moving food—we’re moving forward together,&quot; Jacinto said.The company stated it remains committed to rolling out further support measures as part of its long-term strategy to strengthen its delivery network across the archipelago.
