MANILA — The Luzon and Visayas grids will be placed on yellow and red alerts on Thursday, May 14.In a Facebook post, the Department of Energy (DOE) said the schedule is as follows:LUZON GRID 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Yellow alert 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. - Red alert 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. - Yellow alertVISAYAS GRID 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Yellow alert 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. - Red alert 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. - Yellow alertA yellow alert means plants are producing less than the grid&#x27;s contingency requirement. Red alert means generation is lower than demand, prompting rolling power outages.The DOE has asked power generation companies to resolve plant issues quickly and return to the grid at rated capacity.State weather bureau PAGASA said 49 localities nationwide are forecast to reach a <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/5/14/list-danger-level-heat-index-forecast-in-almost-50-areas-thursday-0855" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">danger-level heat index</a> of 42-47°C on Thursday, as hot and humid conditions continue to persist across the country.
