MANILA — The Visayas power grid has been placed on Yellow Alert again on Monday, June 29. The National Grid Corp of the Philippines said the alert will last from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., during which rolling brownouts may be expected throughout the service area. The NGCP said power generation in the Visayas is still not enough to meet the grid&#x27;s contingency needs, with available capacity at 2,571 megawatts, while peak demand is at 2,288MW. Three large coal-fired power plants remain offline, the NGCP said. The Visayas power grid has been experiencing power shortages since early May, but the Department of Energy said this may soon end by July as key plants return online and emergency capacity is deployed.
