MANILA — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is extending its loan moratorium offer from 3 months to 6 months as prices remain high in the country.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/4/1/gsis-offers-3-month-loan-moratorium-amid-soaring-oil-prices-1147" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">GSIS offers 3-month loan moratorium amid soaring oil prices</a></div>The GSIS previously offered a 3-month loan moratorium for its members. Under this program, the GSIS will continue to deduct loans from members&#x27; salaries. But a member can opt in to receive three months of loan amortizations covering December 2025 to February 2026, directly credited to their accounts.The state pension fund on Wednesday said members can now get refunds for loan payments made from December 2025 to May 2026.Any amount previously refunded under the first phase of the program will be deducted from the total refundable amount. However, members who received less than the full three-month refund under the first phase of the program may still receive the remaining eligible refund for those months, in addition to the three additional months under the enhanced program, subject to a maximum refund equivalent to six monthly loan amortizations.Members can apply for the loan moratorium from July 1 until October 31, 2026. They can do so through the GSIS Touch mobile app.The refunds will be credited directly to the member’s designated GSIS bank account.GSIS president Wick Veloso said this program will give its members &quot;additional financial breathing room.&quot;GSIS saw its total assets climb to <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/2/24/gsis-books-p344-5-billion-income-in-2025-assets-near-p2-trillion-1642" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">nearly P2 trillion</a> in 2025.
