This was 35-percent higher compared to last year's data wherein the DOH recorded a total of only 105 firecracker-related cases last December 29, 2023 as opposed to this year's 142 total cases.

Of the 142 victims, 115 are 19 years old or younger.

DOH's data also showed that 73 percent (104) of the cases are due to illegal firecrackers such as boga (PVC cannon), 5-star, and piccolo.
