George Calvelo, ABS-CBN News/File"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Commuters line up for a ride at a terminal in Cubao, Quezon City on October 28, 2022. <em>George Calvelo, ABS-CBN News/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- The Department of Health says there is no need to implement lockdowns in Metro Manila amid concerns over mpox cases in the Philippines.</p><p>In a televised interview, Health Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo said that while the National Capital Region has logged the most number of mpox cases, the overall cases of the disease in Metro Manila and nationwide are actually declining monthly.</p><p>According to the World Health Organization, mpox is a viral illness that can cause a painful rash, enlarged lymph nodes, fever, headache, muscle ache, back pain and low energy. </p><p>&quot;Wala po tayong natatanging probinsya na binabantayan. Kung tatanungin nyo ako kung saan ang pinakamaraming kaso, nasa Metro Manila. Kailangan bang kabahan tayo? Kailangan bang mag-ECQ, mag-GCQ? Natural po kahit anong sakit ang ating tanungin, mas marami tayong makikita. Pero hindi nangangahulugan na nagkakaroon ng hawaan. Ibig sabihin po, tukoy natin kung nasaan sila, sila po ay naka-isolate, or baka gumaling na eh,&quot; he continued.</p><p>&quot;Kaya ang sinasabi ko lagi, lalo na sa mga kaibigan natin sa media, hindi po yung total ang binabantayan. Kasi ang total, parang score yan, pataas nang pataas yan. Ang tinitignan natin is yung bilang ng bagong kaso kada buwan. At sa nakikita natin, pababa pa ho sya, maski sa Metro Manila pababa rin po.&quot;</p><p>He also cautioned the public against fake information circulating online, which he says have only contributed to undue alarm of the public. </p><p>&quot;Hindi ho sya bago, hindi ho sya lab leak, hindi rin sya side effect ng bakuna yan. Eh kelan ba tayo huling nabakunahan? Nakailang taon na rin po, one or two years na rin po. Lahat po ng ganyang haka-haka, hindi ho totoo yan,&quot; he said.</p><p>&quot;Mas nababahala kami sa DOH hindi sa virus ng mpox, ngunit sa virus ng fake news. Ang bilis ho kasi magleak eh lalo na kapag nakita ang litrato ng mga mpox patients,&quot; Domingo added.</p><p>He noted that many of the pictures of people infected with mpox are actually from other countries.</p><p>&quot;Magkaroon lang ba ng content, at saka magkaroon ng clickbait. So wag lang click ng click. Tigilan natin ang virus ng fake news kasi yan ang nakakasira sa atin.&quot;</p><p>The DOH on Saturday denied that lockdowns have been imposed due to mpox, citing those reports as false information. </p><p>&quot;Walang lockdown kahit saanman sa Pilipinas.
